What do you think of the long tie with a tux?
My husband has to wear a tux for a special occasion and we decided to just go ahead and buy one, since we like to go on cruises. He is a larger guy with a short, thick neck, and when we tried everything on, the bow tie was just out of proportion to the rest of his body - larger jacket, large pants, large shirt, teeny tie.
I had seen pictures of the black long tie with tuxes, and thought the look would go better. I like the overall effect on his body, even if it does come across as a little like a "Men in Black" suit.
What do you think of the long tie look on a tux? It seems to be the new "in" look for formal wear.

I much prefer bow ties - especially with a tux. Have you tried to accessorize the tux with a vest? that will fill the void of the front space and can add studs to the formal dress shirt with matching cuff links.
Happy to hear your husband will dress in a tux for formal night on cruises - not enough people do so these days.
